The event is open to all community members and provides an opportunity for community members to recycle or donate Styrofoam, CFLs, LED lights, fluorescent tubes, medications, thermometers, hearing aids, eyeglasses, electronics ($20 fee per TV and monitor; cash or check only), plastic, glass bottles and jars, cardboard, paper, books, bicycles, scrap metal and appliances. Room air conditioners and dehumidifiers will also be collected and Lansing Board of Water & Light customers will receive a $25 rebate for these items.

Spring Recycling Day

Accepted items include metals, appliances, bikes and bike parts, document shredding, latex paint, and egg cartons. Not accepted items include gasoline or oil, x-rays, 3-ring binders, large binder clips, and oil-based paints. Bring your Consumers Energy bill and you may be eligible for a rebate on air conditioners, small fridges and freezers, and dehumidifiers.

ArtStorm 2025 Storm Drain Mural Project Call for Artists

Presented by the Arts Council of Greater Lansing on behalf of Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (Tri-County) and the Greater Lansing Regional Committee for Stormwater Management, with funding from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. Tri-County and GLRC, in partnership with the Arts Council of Greater Lansing, is pleased to announce a call for artists to submit work to be part of the “ArtStorm 2025” Storm Drain Mural Project! Tri-County invites individual artists and artist teams to submit proposals for a public art project designed to raise awareness about the importance of keeping storm drains clear. Selected artist(s) will create vibrant, engaging murals on 17 storm drains across Clinton, Eaton, and Ingham counties to educate the public on protecting our waterways.

Join the Eaton Conservation District for their spring stream monitoring as they collect insects from Eaton County streams! Participants will meet in the C.S. Mott Academic Center at The University of Olivet for a training presentation before traveling to a stream site. Teams will work together to collect insect samples that will be used to calculate a water quality score. Waders and other necessary equipment will be provided. Please bring a bottle of water and dress for the weather.
Clinton County Spring Collection Event

Open to Clinton County residents only, who must schedule an appointment to participate. Event includes hazardous waste recycling of unwanted medications, farm & landscaping chemicals, motor oil & anti-freeze, computers & electronics, and car & light truck tires (limit of 10), with some fees involved. Please create an account and register online or contact the Department of Waste Management to make an appointment no later than one week before the event.
Eaton County Spring Cleanup

Eaton County residents have the opportunity to responsibly dispose and/or recycle all the hard to dispose of "spring cleaning" materials. Your household hazardous waste, electronics, scrap metal, scrap tires, and yard waste are welcome at this event. No Freon containing items will be accepted but passenger tires will, with a limit of 10 tires per vehicle. Registration with the Eaton County Department of Resource Recovery is required, with the location released upon completion of registration.
Adopt A River

Adopt a River was started by Lansing Board of Water & Light in 1994 to restore pride in one of our area’s great natural resources. The event encourages businesses, unions, schools, and civic groups to adopt sections of the Grand and Red Cedar rivers and to keep their banks and nearby areas clean and free from litter. Help us keep our local rivers and adjacent spaces beautiful! Participants will receive a free water bottle and are asked to bring their own gloves. Visit with GLRC at Impression 5 with free admission to the Science Center after the cleanup!
Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter Spring Native Plant Sale

The Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter will be offering a nice selection of native Michigan wildflowers and grasses at the Meridian Farmers' Market. The plants are grown by Bendy Stem Farm in Dimondale Michigan. We will have plants that support birds, bees and pollinators. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help the Wild Ones Red Cedar Chapter continue our educational programs and provide grants to help establish native gardens in the greater Lansing area.

Lansing Lugnuts Conservation Carnival

Eaton Conservation District is partnering with the Lansing Lugnuts and the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts to bring a Conservation Carnival to Jackson Field on June 1st! Visit with GLRC on the concourse, watch the Lugnuts take on the Beloit Sky Carp, and play fun carnival games with a conservation theme! The game kicks off at 1:05 pm. Lansing River Trail and Rivers Cleanup

Michigan Waterways Stewards hosts their fifth community-wide, Lansing Rivers and River Trail Cleanup. The day will include stewardship activities in the morning, then after there will be hospitality, recreation, entertainment, and environmental education exhibitors. This will be their largest cleanup event with more activities and special events planned than ever before, unveiling community spirit and civic pride. This event also includes FREE admission to Potter Park Zoo for all volunteers and two park beautification projects: Cherry Hill Park and Kruger's Landing.
How to Build A Rain Garden Workshop for Beginners
